Gangs: Personal Stories
Paul Falana, Olufemi Osamoh, Jerell White and Kunle Orebote, 2009 | British Film Institute (United Kingdom)
'It's a very hard thing not to get involved with, gang culture, nowadays because it's just like getting a new pair of trainers - it's the fashion to be in a gang' Gangs: Personal Stories by Paul Falana, Olufemi Osamoh, Jerell White and Kunle Orebote is a compelling short documentary that features a series of short interviews with young people that have come into contact with gang culture and activities in South London. Produced by Fairbridge Young Film Academy, who work with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – giving them the motivation, self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives. This work is part of Doc Next Media Collection www.docnextnetwork.org Doc Next Network collects the media made by young Europeans, and captures their views to redefine and re-imagine documentary within the shifting borders of Europe.
