Hair was the symbol of providence, creative energy, respect and fertility in many cultures. Magical and vital qualities were attached to hair. Hair was seen as the nest of life, psychological strength and the soul. In my project hair is the symbol of those elements of reality that no longer suit the standard of today. The parts of the world, which we no longer notice as they naturally disappear. These photos were created in one of the hairdresser’s shops of the last hairdressing cooperative in Poland established in Wrocław in the 1960s. The premises of the cooperative have been sold out by the city for several years now. 10 shops are still operating as I write these words. Around 100 hairdressers work there, some of which visited by regular customers for dozens of years. ---------------
