Faseeh Choudhary, 2016 | Fanzingo (Sweden)

14 year old Faseeh Choudhary, the maker of this film, is one of the young talents producing videos at Fanzingo's open media lab in Botkyrka, Sweden. Botkyrka is a municipality with a large proportion of inhabitants born outside of Sweden. Whenever Faseeh film is screened, it often inspires the audience to also tell their stories and experiences of what it was like for them to come to Sweden at a young age. The video is a good example of how a simple technique (photos and a voice over) can be used to tell a story that is both powerful and easy to relate to. The film can be used as an example and for inspiration in a workshop.   The story in itself can also be used to illustrate the importance of allowing and supporting a rich diversity of cultural activities for young people. Having something to hold on to, in this case a sport, can sometimes be the thing what helps one to finally find a sense of belonging in a new place.
